According to the latest sales data from Nintendo, the original Switch console has now sold 155.37m units. That means it’s now trumped Nintendo’s previous best-selling console, the Nintendo DS, which sits at around 154m lifetime units sold.

Despite launching in the middle of the year, the Switch 2 saw an incredible start to its lifecycle with it already surpassing 17 million unit sales in its first seven months in the wild. In fact, data shows that the Switch 2 is already selling faster than the original Nintendo Switch during the same time period.

Nintendo’s nine-month 2026 earnings, reported on 3 February 2026, highlighted strong profit growth and record-breaking hardware performance as the Switch became its best-selling console, while the newer Switch 2 drove a very large jump in sales.
