Residents woke up to flooded homes and waist-high water filling streets after torrential rain triggered widespread flooding in parts of Oahu, Hawaii.

Thousands of residents on Oahu had yet to return home as the Hawaiian island dealt with the aftermath of severe rainfall.

Officials issued evacuation notices for two towns, Waialua and Haleiwa, which were already dealing with local flooding but could get inundated if the dam fails.
